Elon & Mars

He wants to make humans multiplanetary and land on mars. Might seem like an unimportant issue.
BUT

1. Our barbaric weapons power have increased more than exponentially in last 100 years.
2. Most heads of state are aged 70 or 80+ and politicans tend to be egoistic & manipulative
3. A drowning man wont hesitate to take his enemy down
4. No major GLOBAL wars were fought recently so most of the world has not experienced what it was in WWI and WWII + not much footage is there to relive it and understand the sheer numbers of deaths.
5. AI Targeting + Drones + Nuclear + Laser tech accelerate this.

So it is better to have a BACKUP of humanity & its knowledge somewhere in case stuff goes wrong here (like in next 200 years which is quite probable).
